All Joyce Meyer’s books are worth reading, and this one is not an exception. I have been trying to hear from God for so long with no success. I still don’t understand what is missing, but Joyce goes over many things that I want put in practice in my life to hopefully hear from Him. Starting by genuinely ask Him what is His plan for me, instead of asking Him to bless my own. Another great learning is: I want to listen and obey to all things rather than getting selective about it. That way I can both training my ears to hear God’s voice and also feel “righteous†without “guilt†or feeling unconsciously “underserved†that can get in the way of hearing and receiving from Him . I hope that it helps you to get a little grasp of Joyce teaches on this book.
So many people want to be able to hear from God, but are not sure how to hear His voice. Joyce Meyer is a fabulous teacher! She breaks it down simply and backs it all up with scripture throughout -- nearly on every page. I have underlined so many things in this book that I think there is writing on nearly every page too. God is speaking to us all the time, but too often we are too busy to be able to hear. By understanding all the different ways that God speaks, it becomes easier to hear Him (through scripture, concious thoughts, prayer, words from others, etc.). Joyce also shares some of the hindrances in our lives to hearing from God. With her wonderful wit and bold examples of her own life of how she's messed up, she helps the reader see that hearing from God is attainable for anyone. I would highly recommend reading this book as a Women's Bible Study. It is so much richer to share experiences with each other about how God speaks to each of us differently and it was so encouraging to hear all the stories about how He works in each person's life around us.I read this book with a group of about 30 women. We found that it worked well in a 6 week session (Kick off session to pass out books -- then 5 weeks of study and discussion: Chapters 1 - 3, 4 - 6, 7 - 9, 10-12 and 13-14 with a final party.)We found that it was helpful to summarize the learning each week in a big group and then break into three separate small groups to discuss the individual questions at the end of the chapter. It was truly a special study. We learned so much, grew into a deeper relationship with God and formed such special friendships along the way. During the course of the study, it was truly amazing to see all the different ways that God spoke to each of us! I would highly recommend it for either reading by yourself to strengthen your personal walk with God or for really rich content for a Bible Study. I don't think you will be disappointed!
I have been the facilitator to a group of 21 people as we have spent 8 weeks reading and discussing this book. Actually tomorrow is our last day. We have all grown spiritually by learning how to spend time with God, learning to discern His voice over the many distractions of our busy lives, learning to trust, obey, and focus our spiritual lives on the Holy Spirit rather than the evil of the world. Wonderful book.
The content is excellent and very practical.But for the mature Christian person, the content organization is chaotic, the themes, the headings, and the subheadings.Nevertheless, I enjoyed reading the book in a very practical way, which reinforces what I already know.
I have read several books that Joyce Meyer has written.This book really helps you in understanding all the voices in your head.I received a very valueable lesson with this reading,not all the voices are there tohelp you,most of them want to destroy you.By reading and taking heed to what is stated it will guide you in the correct directionto which voice you need to listen to.God loves us and wants us to have a fulfilling life with him...We need to learn to hear and understand what our Father has instore for us...READ THIS BOOK..it opens the gateway to hearing the truth
I ordered this and the study guide together. I am very glad I did it looks like it's going to be an excellent read as well as a good learning experience. And once again I need to say thank you to Joyce Meyer for speaking in the language we can all understand.
This was VERY PRACTICAL. I mean it in a very good way! It ministered to me between the lines. God truly does speak all the time. The question is are we listening. Once e you learn God's character it's a bit easier to understand what He expects from us. It's worth several reads just to let it sink more into my spirit. A great and enjoyable read!
Reading this now! This books identifies the ways to hear God and not your own voice. It lays out ways to know that God is telling you something--it must line up with God's Word. Excellent book that I will use as reference.
